		Where the real confusion comes in is in the issue of Aboriginal languages, generally referred to as “Austronesian” langauges.
		(Most of them are categorized as Formosan Austronesian, with the exception of Yami, which is Malayo-Polynesian Austronesian.) At the end of World War II there were 17 Austronesian languages spoken in Taiwan.
