A number of political organizations have called themselves the Radical Party, or have Radical as part of their name.
These include parties in France, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Argentina and Canada.
The name Radical can have various meanings, varying from the original Radical movement for electoral reform which became associated with republicanism as well as with progressive Liberal parties, to the extreme right and the extreme left wing of the political spectra.

Colorado Party Senator Luis Gonzalez Macchi assumed the presidency in March 1999; in August 2000, voters elected Julio Cesar Franco of the Liberal Party to be Vice President.
The party was founded in 1928 and has been illegal since then, except for a short period in 1936 and again in the 1946-47 period before the PCP became involved in the 1947 civil war.
The party's efforts to organize a general strike in 1959 were ineffective as was its involvement in guerilla attacks in the early 1960s.
