The Inquisition enjoyed limited power in Portugal, having been established in 1536 and officially lasting until 1821, although its influence was much weakened with the government of Marquis of Pombal, in the second half of the 18th century.

Together, the music on this disc provides a good overview of SPK's history, from the noise of the early material on the Industrial label, through intermediate steps to something that's not too far from the beautiful Zamia Lehmanni (which can be thought of as the springboard for Graeme Revell's later soundtrack work).
