Autonomedia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Autonomedia is one of the main North American publishers of radical theoretical works, especially in the anarchist and ultra-left marxist tradition.
For many years Autonomedia was linked with the press Semiotext(e), which was one of the major sources for English language translations of post-structuralist literature, especially in the 1980s.
Autonomedia publishes books on a variety of topics, such as anarchism, "autonomist" and extraparliamentary marxism, cyberfeminism, psychedelics and drug literature, turn of the century queer individualist anarchist novels, etc. Well-known authors include Antonio Negri, Peter Lamborn Wilson (also known as Hakim Bey), Silvia Federici, PM, John Moore, and others.

Peter Lamborn Wilson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the 1980s, his ideas evolved from a kind of Guénonist neo-tradionalism to a synthesis of anarchism and Situationist ideas with heterodox Sufism and Neopaganism, describing his ideas as "anarchist ontology" or "immediatism".
In the past he has worked with the not-for-profit publishing project Autonomedia, in Brooklyn, New York.
In addition to his writings on anarchism and Temporary Autonomous Zones, Wilson has written essays on such diverse topics as Tong traditions, the utopian Charles Fourier, the fascist Gabriele D'Annunzio, the connections between Sufism and ancient Celtic culture, sacred pederasty in the Sufi tradition, technology and Luddism, and Amanita muscaria use in ancient Ireland.

Autonomedia Benefit: Marx in Soho | Radical Reference
From there the audience is given a rare glimpse of a Marx seldom talked about; Marx the scholar, the immigrant, the family man. Asking the question "Was Marx a Marxist?", Zinn casts a divergent light from the totalitarian movements his theories have long been ssociated with.
This production of "Marx in Soho" will benefit Autonomedia, a small press in Brooklyn publishing books and electronic media in the areas of radical politics and history, critical theory, media, and the arts.
Some of the voices published by Autonomedia include Antonio Negri, Subcomandante Marcos, the Critical Art Ensemble, Hakim Bey, Silvia Federici, and ADILKNO (the Amsterdam-based Association for the Advancement of Illegal Knowledge).

Cyber-Psychos AOD #6 Interview Excerpt: Hakim Bey
And the gist of it is, we are not only not-for-profit, but the people who work for the company don't take salaries; some of the writers don't take royalties or turn some of them back over to the company.
I mean give them credit, they're doing great work, but they're running it like a real publishing company and paying themselves salaries, royalties, and so forth.
And it means they can't do as much as Autonomedia can do.

Steve Kurtz (and by extension, the Critical Art Ensemble) was denied a motion to dismiss his trial last week in Federal court.
Critical Art Ensemble are the collective authors of a series of Autonomedia books analyzing the authoritarian uses of science and technology, particularly where these mechanisms operate with a positive, "everyone's a winner" face (the full-stomached promises of food genomics, for example, or the healthy-and-smart-kids promises of the reproductive industries).
Not content to be armchair critics, the CAE also produce art and performance that brings their analysis to museum and gallery audiences and into the public sphere, demystifying the spectacle of what they've called the "military techno-security cineplex."
