		Prefecture, in the context of China, is used to refer to several unrelated political divisions in both ancient and modern China.
		Autonomous prefectures (自治州 pinyin: zìzhìzhōu) are either have over 50% of the population with ethnic minorities or are historically resided by significant minorities.
		All autonomous prefectures are mostly dominated, in population, by the Han Chinese.

		Deep in the mountains and valleys of southwest China, in an area that traditionally was part of Tibet, villagers bring out antique dresses, handed down through generations, for festivals and Buddhist religious ceremonies.

		Many women and girls are also sold to traffickers by their parents. Most North Korean women perceive their security so threatened in China and their situation so desperate at home that they are easily coerced into marriage or prostitution. Bride trafficking is also a serious problem along the North Korean—Chinese border.

		The westernmost province of China and the home of the Uyghur people, Xinjiang, proved to be a region of startling barren natural beauty, and had some of the most authentic and traditional un-westernized culture I've encountered.
		The Eastern part of China came as a bit of a surprise after all this time in other regions, I very suddenly realized how crowded that country can be when I got off my train into a sea of people at the station of the major city of Xian.

	XINJIANG: No children in church, Catholics told
