		Autopsy was an influential death metal band, founded in 1987 in the United States by Chris Reifert after leaving Death.
		Autopsy's last album, 1994's Shitfun, was heavily influenced by hardcore punk and would prepare fans for Abscess, Danny Coralles and Chris Reifert's project after Autopsy's demise in 1995.
		Autopsy was featured in the 2005 music documentary Metal: A Headbanger's Journey when the films narrator and star read aloud a verse from the bands song "Charred Remains".

		Abscess was formed in Oakland, California, in June of 1994 as Autopsy, Hexx and Immortal Fate had broken up.
		In 1998 the former Von member Joe Allen joins the band on bass to replace Freeway and in August they recorded a four track demo called "Open Wound" which led to the signing with French Listenable Records in 1999.
		They started to record their new album "Tormented" at Sound Temple studios but as the owner of the studio was evicted they ended up losing all the tapes.

		Review: Autopsy baffle their audience with an aesthetic that is a small part conventional death metal and mostly technique for maintaining an atmosphere of gore obsession - sloppy, grotesque chords, passages of infinitessimal weight, odd almost-melodic bits, with lead guitar that comments internally enough to avoid being a fretrun of scale patterns.
		Fast tempo breaks, odd shifting rhythms, and thoroughly crepitative guitar sound make Autopsy the founder and principle practicioner of gore metal, as their work is most commonly called.
		Where lead guitar is used it is as showy as the metal gods of the late 1970s, but as the Misfits perverted the crooners of the generation before, Autopsy sickeningly invert heavy metal and turn it into the degraded but aware and nihilistic feral genre of death metal.

		This quartet of Swedish deathsters, all serving time in other well-known groups, banded together to pay tribute to a band that no doubt influenced each of them individually, that band being the death/doom/grind/gore band Autopsy.
		Originally Murder Squad was nothing more than purely a Autopsy cover band, but several years ago they shifted to writing original songs, and so their goal was to release an album that sounds like Autopsy.
		There are a few soundalikes to their current bands (most notably Entombed, due to Uffe Cederlund's unmistakable guitar sound), but again Autopsy is the obvious soundalike here.

		Well, this band is your run of the mill death metal/grindcore band in vein of Morbid ANgel and Suffocation, but this album's lyrics definately take the 1st place prize for most intriguing.
		All the songs are great with slashing riffs, crushing drums and DiGiorgo's funky bass (which I think is better fitted to his other band's style : Sadus).
		I rate this 1993 reedition cd 4 stars 1/2 'cos I know another band which plays a not too far kind of music and is better : Carcass with their "Symphonies of Sickness".
