Interestingly, although the prefrontal cortex is seemingly devoid of synthesis-modulating autoreceptors in adulthood (e.g., Galloway et al., 1986), convincing evidence has been obtained for a transient expression of DA autoreceptor-like modulation of DA synthesis in the prefrontal cortex early in life that disappears during adolescence (Andersen et al., 1997a; Teicher et al., 1991).

Lycaeum > Leda > LSD FAQ
LSD acts as a 5HT autoreceptor agonist in the raphe nucleus.
These autoreceptors are typically considered to be 5HT1As.
That "thus" in the first sentence should be an "and." I'm not certain what "disaffecting" should be (autoreceptors' only true loyalty is to the laws of chemistry & physics) for the second sentence to be true.

LIEBERMAN PARKINSON CLINIC - Parkinson Disease: Chorea, Dyskinesia, Involuntary Movement, Wearing off   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-19)
National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, NIH, Bethesda, MD BACKGROUND: Serotoninergic transmission in the basal ganglia is known to influence dopaminergic mechanisms and motor function.
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the possibility that serotoninergic 5-HT1A autoreceptors (by regulating the release of serotonin as well as dopamine formed from exogenous levodopa) affect the response alterations complicating levodopa treatment of PD.
In both species, the motoric effects of sarizotan were blocked by the selective 5-HT1A antagonist WAY100635 (0.1 mg/kg SC), indicating that the observed sarizotan responses were probably mediated at the 5-HT1A autoreceptor.
