 Metropole Paris - Visiting Vincent
I don't really mind not getting the details about either of these 'myths.' In Auvers-sur-Oise you should be able to overlook these little fairy tales, and be perfectly satisfied with what there is to see.
The total view of this is spoiled by some trees that the good burgers of Auvers have placed in the way, but today's sky matches Vincent's so it is nearly okay.
Regardless of the length of tour or which one, regardless of the over-posted repros of paintings, and possibly regardless of the weather - which has been rarely uncharacteristic today - regardless of everything, getting close to Vincent in spirit is probably easier at Auvers than at the Musée d'Orsay.

Which is why I said that one should just go to Pontoise as you can't make a mistake that way, and that is where the train leaves from to go to Auvers-sur-Oise, and then it comes back through St-Ouen l'Aumone and east to Auvers.
Trains to Auvers from Pontoise are not quite as frequent, but if you get an early start, there should be no problem.
In actuality, the train to Auvers leaves from the station before Pontoise (St-Ouen, I think), but you won't save any time that way, as they originate in Pontoise, so I found it easier just to get out at Pontoise.
