Avatar: The Last Airbender - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Avatar: The Last Airbender (known as Avatar: The Legend of Aang in the UK and India) is an American animated elemental television series airing on Nickelodeon since February 21, 2005; recently it has also become available on iTunes.
Usually, the Avatar is told of his/her true identity only after turning sixteen; however, the Air Nomads feared that a war between the four nations was on the horizon, and that the Avatar would soon be needed to help maintain balance.
Avatar draws on four of the five classical Indian elements of Hindu and Buddhist traditions for the four bending arts: Fire (agni or tejas), Water (ap or jala), Earth (prithvi or bhumi), and Wind or Air (vayu or pavan).

Some Hindus, by the way, think of Jesus as an avatar of God, while there's a debate within the Vaishnavite Hindu community over whether Krishna is an avatar of Vishnu or whether all the gods are avatars of Krishna (sort of a theological version of the chicken-or-the-egg debate).

Hindus have a saying: "Ekam Sataha Vipraha Bahudha Vadanti," which may be translated: "The truth is One, but different Sages call it by Different Names" Hinduism like all other non-Christian religions accept various ideas of "God" and cannot define a true saving relationship with the God of heaven and creator of us all.
Hinduism is marked by the worship and belief in many forms of "God." There are nearly 330 million deities in the Hindu belief structure making it difficult to define a major belief system.
