 Longevity Report 91
As a measure of lifespan extension I have used both the mean average and maximum lifespan of the experimental animals (or cohort), relative to the controls, known as the cohort mean and maximum lifespan, respectively.
Cohort maximum lifespans — if measured by the age of the last survivor - are subject to high random scatter or uncertainty, since only one animal defines the maximum age from a relatively small group.
A species maximum lifespan is typically defined against a reference population of millions of animals, whereas the number in the experimental cohort only defines the cohort lifespan.

Methuselah Mouse Prize - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For comparison: the mouse strain most often used for studies of lifespan, called "C57Bl/6", has a normal life-span of about 3 years, while mice whose grandparents have been caught in the wild are unharmed by inbreeding and live nearly 4 years on average.
Treatment may begin only at mid-life, and the average lifespan of the 10% longest living treated animals is used for the record.

Cancer mortality rate rises, with time, as a quintic, approximately, from age 20 years, suggesting that the mutation rate is constant or rises slowly throughout adult life and that cancers are the result of, on average, 5 independent mutations.
Chromium’s anti-glycation, glucose-regulatory action is mediated entirely via the protein insulin (a hormone); chromium, therefore, is a proteonomic cofactor with a single target protein, unlike the enzymic cofactors, which, typically, operate in conjunction with number of target enzymes.

Active Skim View of: HOW ENTOMOLOGISTS SEE THEMSELVES
Because it is impossible to identify at the moment of birth those individuals destined to become entomologists, average lifespan calculations are compromised; unlike the apparently short-lived European sovereigns, entomologists are made, not born.
By the way, the central premise of this essay—that entomologists have until recently enjoyed a longer lifespan than most other people—is based on a distortion of demography in that average lifespans should be calculated from birth.
There were also three entomologists in the Center for Biodiversity at the Natural History Survey, at least one entomologist in the College of Veterinary Medicine, and rumor was that there was an entomologist cleverly concealed in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning in the College of Fine and Applied Arts.

 EN World - Morrus' D&D / d20 News & Reviews Site - A kender in Mechanus
But anyways, I'd say the kenders lifespan on mechanus would be about as long as a cherry red 66 vette's lifespan would be sitting on 175th and amsterdam in New York City.
Though I would say that kender's lifespan wouldn't last much longer on mechanus, seeing as how said kender would most likely do something wrong in a short amount of time the enevitables(sp?) would be after them in a short while.
11-09-02 09:29 PM IMO, an average kender on Mechanus is going to break some law in the first 30 seconds, get caught while doing so in the first 30 minuts, and get executed within the first 30 hours.

 Diabetes 123 - HbA1c Measurement
Since red blood cells have a lifespan of approximately 90 days, measuring the amount of glucose bound to hemoglobin can provide an assessment of average blood sugar control during the 60 to 90 days prior to the test.
Your HbA1c value can tell you what your average blood sugar has been for approximately the previous three months.
Frequent home blood glucose monitoring will provide the detailed information about the pattern of blood sugars to help each person decide how to adjust the insulin to improve their average control.

Idle Current Biasing - Why 70 percent?
It is important that the tube amp designers take it upon themselves to provide biasing and safe operating area information in the tech manual for the amplifier and insure that the design doesn't greatly exceed tube operating parameters if they want to insure a decent tube lifespan.
The maximum average squarewave dissipation is around 24.8W, again within the safe operating area of the tube, and decreases to zero at full power squarewave output.
It is sometimes possible to safely run an amplifier that has it's high point excursion above the average dissipation for the tubes, because, on average, the amplifier is not running in the max dissipation range continuously.

The longer a grandmother survives, the more babies her sons and daughters can produce about two on average for every 10 years she lives beyond 50, new research shows.

Free Radical Theory of Aging (hydrogen peroxide precursor)
While mice with elevated catalase levels in the nucleus and cytoplasm experienced small increases in lifespan, animals that produced catalase in their mitochondria were found to experience a 20 percent increase in average and maximum lifespan and had healthier heart tissue.
Hydrogen peroxide is produced during metabolism and is a precursor of free radicals that lead to cell damage, which causes the generation of even more free radicals.
This adds credence to the theory that the mitochondria are a major source of free radicals generated as a byproduct of energy production.

 Longevity Report 91
If we assume that humans in modern affluent society are as cosseted as laboratory animals then, it implies that the modern human average lifespan of approximately 75 years is extendable to over 120 years, by dietary intervention alone, with a commensurate maximum life span increase from 122 to over 200 years.
In humans, but not all animals, as cells divide their telomeres shorten, which is why children have longer telomeres, on average, than adults.

CalorieLab Calorie Counter News » Calorie restriction and antiaging
For instance, there is data for Japan on the average calories consumed, and average lifespan, of subgroups ranging from hefty sumo wrestlers (who put away 5,500 calories a day before dying at age 56) to residents of Okinawa prefecture, who eat much less and live longer.
With the calorie restriction longevity movement discredited, would-be Methuselahs are looking to supercentenarians (people aged 110 years or over) for dietary advice, rather than to laboratory mice.
Mice, for instance, stop reproducing when calories are restricted, and the resulting reduction of reproductive hormones helps extend their lives; the same doesn’t turn out to be true in humans.

Given that the average tac shotgun (for the average rube, not a hardcore 3-gun shooter) is a shoot-little, sit in the closet-much proposition, I sincerely doubt that the steel-vs-aluminum receiver question will even be an issue, at least as far as service lifespan.
Due to the loose part tolerances of the Mossberg which was an idea pioneered by Mikhail Timofeevich Kalashnikov, designer of the AK-47, a gun which can still fire even if the gun is severly mistreated.
The Mossberg was designed to function even if mistreated, like dropping in sand, mud, water, or being baked and frozen.

Lord (Robert) May on biological diversity
As reviewed in more detail elsewhere (Sepkoski, 1992; May, 2000), the average lifespan of a species in the fossil record, from origination to extinction, is typically a few million years (that is, of the order 106 to 107 years).
As reviewed elsewhere (May et al, 1995), one of these estimates the average rate at which species in better-studied groups (birds, mammals and palm trees) are climbing the ladder of IUCN categories of endangerment.
And third, we have even less idea of the rates at which species may currently be going extinct as a result of habitat destruction, introduced aliens, overexploitation and other consequences of human population growth.

Snarks are longer lived than Earth human beings, although the average length of a Snark lifespan has not yet been determined.
An average Snark is about 8 feet tall from head to toe; about 11 feet long from snout to tip of tail, and weights 400 pounds and can lift (press) about 400 pounds.
The Snarks are ruled by an emperor, who has many wives, each of whom is designated as a queen mother, and each of whom heads her own clan, composed of her offspring, relatives, and supporters.

Big Big Forums - SMA newborn screening petition
Current statistics show that the average lifespan of a child with SMA Type I, not put on permanent ventilation or "life support", is only 8 months of age, with 80% dying by the age of one, and the majority of the rest dying by age 2.
Also, as more is learned about SMA, the lifespan of a Type 1 child can be lengthened depending on the severity of the symptoms for each particular child.
SMA is a muscular disease passed on genetically to children by their parents.
