Radio and light signals are reportedly available for the refueling itself, although it isn't clear precisely what these consist of.
Besides signal lights there is probably a system to illuminate portions of the airframe to give the receiver pilot a visual reference for A/R under low light conditions.
The refueling-specific "radio signal" is something of a mystery, but may refer to a system whereby the receiver(s) can talk to the tanker crew "radio silent" (over the tanker's intercom) once plugged in to the drogue.

 Convair B-58 Hustler - USA
In August, 1954, the airframe was redesigned for the last time in the light of the supersonic "area rule." The jet engine nacelles were hung individually under the wings, the fuselage redesigned, with added room for fuel permitting the tip tanks to be eliminated.
The latter, in response to Mach signals, varies the stick-to-control surface mechanical ratio, in order to protect the aircraft against excessive G loads.
Thus, large control movements are desirable and necessary at low air speeds; at high subsonic speeds, control surfaces movement should be limited because of the high air pressures involved; at supersonic speeds, with the control surfaces blanketed by shock waves, larger surface movements are required to produce the same effect.

If the light signal could be controlled bylight, it would be possible to route and process optical data withoutthe costly electrical conversion, opening up the possibility ofprocessing information at the speed of light.

The structure detects light in a portion of the infrared spectrum that is important for telecommunications and infrared astronomy, from 3 to 10 micrometers.
Signals sent from Earth to satellites and back again travel in the range of 3 to 5 or 8 to 12 micrometers, in wavelengths that allow them to pass through Earth's atmosphere unscathed.
Light at these energies is currently detected by other methods, including semiconductors, which must be carefully grown and are expensive to make.

Fatal general aviation crashes, as well as some air carrier and commuter accidents with relatively minor injuries, are often investigated by a single field investigator from one of the NTSB's Regional Offices.
It is important to have a previously uninvolved aviation lawyer review the facts, procedures and known evidence with the party and involved employees, so that objective facts can be provided in the interview, rather than emotionally clouded statements which are common after accidents.
Anyone with an aviation law problem should be guided by the advice of his or her lawyer, under applicable federal and state laws, after a full and confidential disclosure of all relevant facts.

WSDOT - Aviation Land Use Compatibility Program Information
The law requires every county, city and town to adopt comprehensive plan policies and development regulations that will discourage the siting of incompatible uses adjacent to general aviation airports that are operated for the benefit of the general public, whether publicly owned or privately owned public use airports.
Depending on airport characteristics, location and amount of key open space adjacent to a general aviation airport, incompatible land uses may include public assembly/large concentrations of people (number of person attracted by a use), residential density, intensity of nonresidential development, structure height, hazardous/explosive material, wildlife hazards, light/glare, air quality and electronic signals.
It means that concepts, standards, physical characteristics, and resulting consequences of a proposed action must not conflict with the intent of the law or the plan/implementing regulations that the plan comparison is being made.
