		The AVID approach to untracking places previously underachieving students (who are primarily from low income and ethnic or linguistic minority backgrounds) in the same college preparation academic program as high-achieving students (who are primarily from middle or upper-middle income and "majority" backgrounds).
		AVID features a rigorous academic elective course with a sequential curriculum for grades 7 through 12 that focuses on writing, inquiry, and collaboration as methodologies to accelerate student progress.
		AVID students who come from the lowest income strata (i.e., their parents' median income is below $19,999) enroll in 4-year colleges in equal or higher proportions to students who come from higher income strata (parents' median income between $20,000 and $65,000).
