The intricate detail of the avoda was the topic of a Yarchei Kallah, a series of three all day lectures, taught by the Rav in the summer of 1971, as well as the primary topic in one of his last Kinus Teshuva lectures given to the Rabbinical Council in 1979.
For example, immediately before the avoda the cantor chants "ochila lakel", a special supplication that the cantor as representative of the community be given divine assistance in leading the service which is to follow.
In the course of the avoda description, at the point in which the scapegoat is dispatched to the desert, the Torah states: "And Aaron came to the tent of meeting and removed the linen garments" (Leviticus 16:23).

Certainly this has been the experience of the Avoda program in general, as we have worked with over 3000 high school and college age students across the country, in terms of their understanding and personal relationship to Judaism.

Such an arrangement might not be so bad; Avoda would pull the government to the left on social issues, and Shinui would likely be a more effective opposition than Avoda.
Avoda, though, isn't in much position to pick up the slack; the party is leaderless and in disarray, and hasn't distinguished itself during its two years in opposition.
Avoda itself would be hard-put to hold its own, and could bleed support on the left to Am Ehad and Yahad.

Christianity as a religion was just as much avoda zara to the baalei tosafot as it was to the Rambam.
A simple, yet not usually discussed, proof of this is found in Tractate Avoda Zara 14b, d"h hatzav, in which it is stated that it is forbidden to sell wax to the Gentiles (for fear they will make votive candles).
The prohibition is based on the verse "Lifnei Iver lo titen mikhshol," understood to mean that a Jew is not permitted to cause another (Jew or Gentile) to sin.

 P57shemi
The shelamim and mincha which were offered on the eighth day are exceptions to the comparison, and do not appear in the Yom Kippur avoda, but this is because the nature of Yom Kippur is one of atonement, self-infliction and fasting; therefore none of the korbanot which are eaten are brought on this day.
Therefore no internal avoda exists, and even that which usually would be sacrificed in the Kodesh - the calf for a chatat - is sacrificed instead outside (but is nevertheless burnt like an internal chatat).
This process is realized in the contrast between the revelation of the Shekhina on the eighth day upon the entire ohel mo'ed before the whole nation which is gathered in the chatzer at the entrance to it, and Aharon's entry on Yom Kippur into the hidden and invisible, to his private encounter with God.

With the statement “America is not different,” the Rebbe Rayatz characterized the avoda that would be required in the lower hemisphere, the bottom half of the world, in which the Torah was not given.
