The Avoncroft Museum of Historic Buildings is an open-air industrial and architectural museum located in Stoke Heath, a district of Bromsgrove, Worcestershire, England.
Opened in 1967, the museum was conceived following the dismantling of a 15th century timber-framed house in Bromsgrove to provide a location for its reconstruction.
The museum is centered on a collection of buildings which have of necessity had to be relocated from their original sites and restored.

The Museum was conceived after efforts to prevent the destruction of a 15th century timber-framed house in Bromsgrove had failed and the timbers were, at the last minute, rescued and stored.
This building (pictured above, before and after demolition), the Merchants House, became the first exhibit to be repaired and re-erected on a 15-acre site on the outskirts of Bromsgrove provided for the museum on lease by the Fircroft Trust (now the Croft Trust).
The primary aim of the museum is to rescue buildings from destruction.

The museum's first acquisition was a 15th century merchant's house from Bromsgrove, opened to the public in 1967, and since then the collection has steadily expanded.
Three exhibitions are mounted in the building: one to William Morris, another to sheep farming and a third to the story of the tower itself.
