Awans is mostly famous for the vendetta which decimated the nobility of Hesbaye from 1297 to 1335.

My ancestors were settled close to Terbela and then one of the brothers decided that the air is not that good there so he started walking and ended up close to Mansehra-Abbottabad about 300 years ago.
There's theories that the original Hindu Rajputs were the same stock as Afghans/Pashtuns too but these are just baseless theories, I know plenty of Awans and none talk of affiliation with Afghans, not everyone who came through the Khyber pass was ethnically Pashtun/Pukhtoon (ethnic Afghan).
I am doing research on the Awans if you have a family tree I would greatly appreciate your help.

I think Malik and or awan it does not matter they are customes we have inherited from hindus and so this pathetic link of being an awan or malik and to that matter any other caste system is a baseless commentary.
I think Awans are an independant people like jats etc, and are not subclan of jats or rajputs.
