	Awka - Home
		Awka is an open-source implementation of the AWK programming language.
		Awka is not an interpreter like Gawk, Mawk or Nawk, but instead it converts the program to ANSI-C, then compiles this using gcc or a native C compiler to create a binary executable.
		Awka is actually two products - the AWK to C translator, and a library against which the C code is linked.

		The one area where Awka really falls behind Mawk is with recursive function calls, where Mawk approaches C in speed, but Awka is closer to Gawk.
		With Awka, the author of a script now has more options to decide how they want their work distributed, and I think freedom of choice is a good thing.
