Kusch must have wanted to find other ways to express himself, as he teamed up with Axel Mackenrott on keys from Masterplan, Pagan's Mind members Steinar Krokmo and Jorn Viggo Lofstad on bass and guitars respectively, and last but not least the amazing female vocalist Magali Luyten.
Even though this album is meant to be a departure from the previous efforts of Uli Kusch, in many ways, it's just a more keyboard-driven version of his recent output with Masterplan.
Mackenrott's synths are all over the place, and aside from the few songs where he delves into deep experiments, the music could be described as a melodic metal release with some serious hard rock leanings, plus modern production values to boot.

Beautiful Sin is a side project from Uli Kusch (drummer of Masterplan) with Belgian singer Magali Luyten.
(Axel Mackenrott from Masterplan is also in the band.) Their sound is basically like that of a more melodic version of Masterplan.
If anything it resembles a heavier sounding instrumental song that had some commercial success in the 80s like an 'Axel F' or maybe stuff by Herbie Hancock.

Eckert; insane and super solid drumming of Uli Kusch and perfect highlighting keyboards of Axel Mackenrott, make their debut cd one of the hardest hitting metal releases of 2003.

The progressive elements are supplied by Grapow, with his melodic riffs, and in lesser way by Mackenrott.
The keyboard play is a bit scarce, and in many occasions it just fills, or is used in intros.
A pity, for if Mackenrott got more room, the sound of Masterplan would be even better!

In fact, we're six tracks in before the first (and thankfully last) unbearably cheesy chorus ("We're the heroes of a new world!" -- ugh!) surfaces by way of "Heroes," but this proves to be the only serious offender on an otherwise excellent effort.
Incidentally, keyboards courtesy of Axel Mackenrott also do their part, taking an active part in the proceedings while rarely overwhelming them inconveniently.
Delivering on the promised of their E.P., this debut bodes well for the band's future.

Four very well known and accomplished musicians, as well as a stranger to the scene, have created an incredibly good debut album.
Made up of two guys from Helloween; guitarist Roland Grapow and drummer Uli Kusch (who happen to be the composers of most of the material), former bass player from Iron Savior, Jan S. Eckert, Axel Mackenrott on keyboards (the only stranger) and last but not least, Jorn Lande, one of today's best male vocalist around.
Now, if you are not too hot for Power metal, you might disregard this album as being just another side project from a couple of ex-Power metal musicians doing another Power metal album.

Lofstad churns out one thunderous riff after the other while the bed of synths laid by Mackenrott ensures the melody is (unlike the song title) not lost.
Changing pace is the ballad 'Closer To My Heart', followed by the slightly demented 'Give Up Once For All', which sounds skitzo though to be fair, melody is still highly evident.
Proving to be different yet again is the instrumental 'Brace For Impact', a fantastic pompous keyboard workout from Axel Mackenrott that would give Derek Sherinian a run for his money.

Uli's und Magali's bandmates are also worth to talk about: next to Pagan's Mind's Jorn Viggo Lofstad (guitar) and Steinar Krokmo (bass), coming from Uli's new chosen home Norway, there is also Kusch's Masterplan-mate Axel Mackenrott (keyboards) with the band.
