Ayroor is a village situated on the western part of Ranny Taluk of Pathanamthitta District in Kerala state, India.
This decendants of this family is still present is Ayroor and is called the Aiyyakkavil family.
The kingdom of Ayroor lay between Kodungallur and Chettuva, which is also named Ayroor or Pappinivattam.

 History of the Kurudamannil Family
There are dark pages in the history of Kerala, however there are documentation dating back to AD 974 ('mambilly sasanm') where Ayroor village is decreed to establish a Hindu temple.
The hard work of the brotherhood spread out their "small farm" from Ayroor up to Ranny, most of which was forests with dangerous wild life.
Ayroor and Maramon, the heartlands of reformation pioneered by Rev. Abraham Malpan and his nephew Palakunnathu Mathews Mar Athanasios, there was great upheaval in the church history.

In a statement here today, the Ayroor grama panchayat president, Sreeja Vimal, said that the stadium has been constructed at a cost of Rs.18.3 lakhs on 3.15 acres.
She said that the Member of the Rajya Sabha, Vakkachan Mattathil, has sanctioned Rs.4 lakhs for the stadium.

During the rule of the Ayroor Karthakkals in AD 1750, a young man named Thomas, full of Godly confidence and courage moved to Ayroor with his wife and only son and settled there, thereby laying the foundation of an extensive and blessed family named Puthuparambil.
In the early days there were not many christians in Ayroor region but this family was exceptional as it enjoyed a tax free status from the King.
The wealth of Ayroor Puthuparambil family was great confidence, hard work and above all the grace of God.

There is not any historical evidence about St. Thomas’ missionary work at Nilackal but it is written in old metal plates, Marthomma charitham, Veeradiyan song and many historians’ writings about certain vague assumptions that St. Thomas established a church at Nilakkal.
There is a Mar St. Thomas Church at Ayroor which is still named Chayal (Nilakkal).
Efforts were made recently to rebuild a church at Nilakkal which led to opposition from the Hindu community, even though there are evidences of a Christian Church and a Hindu temple which existed there side by side in olden days, as can be found now in many other places in Kerala.
