Fox Tor - Encyclopedia Glossary Meaning Explanation Fox Tor
Fox Tor is a relatively minor hill on Dartmoor, in the United Kingdom, but is best known for the swampy land that lies beneath it.
For Fox Tor Mires are said to have been the inspiration for Grimpen Mire in The Hound of the Baskervilles, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
On the flank of Fox Tor stands Childe's Tomb - the subject of a local legend which claims that it is the last resting place of an unfortunate traveller who died there during a blizzard.

Staff operations: the X Corps in Korea, December 1950
Marine and Army troops doubtless breathed a sigh of relief as they passed through TF Dog and the rest of the 3d Infantry Division, knowing that the end of their ordeal was in sight.
The Marines were loaded from 9 to 14 December, the ROK I Corps from 15 to 17 December, the U.S. 7th Infantry Division from 18 to 21 December, and U.S. 3d Infantry Division from 21 to 24 December (see map 3).
The 1st Marine Division did most of the planning for and execution of the Inchon landings since X Corps was neither fully formed nor experienced enough in amphibious operations to operate as a functional headquarters.

HyperWar: USMC Monograph--Marines in the Central Solomons
While the 2d Battalion's movement to its assembly area was in progress, the Japanese suddenly attempted a double envelopment of the 1st Battalion's newly acquired positions, and it was necessary to recommit the 2d Battalion to the line immediately.
The 3d Marines scheme of maneuver for the projected attack was that the 2d and 3d Battalions, following an artillery preparation, would advance abreast pass through the lines of the 1st Battalion, 3d Marines, and attack to the east for a distance of 800 yards beyond the east branch of the Piva.
Corps Reserve, which consisted of the 2d Marine Raider Regiment and the 1st Battalion 1st Marine Parachute Regiment, all under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Shapley, was directed to be prepared to counterattack in any sector, to reinforce defenses, to occupy defensive positions as designated, or to engage in land or waterborne raider operations.

Alexander's Gas & Oil Connections - Malaysia's trade surplus increased
The department attributed the seven-month surplus to the 40.8 % increase in exports to 162.7 bn ringgit ($ 42.815 bn) from 115.6 bn ringgit ($ 30.421 bn) in the corresponding period in 1997 while imports rose 14.6 % to 136.5 bn ringgit ($ 25.921 bn) from 119.1 bn ringgit ($ 31.342 bn).
For July alone, the ninth consecutive month to record a surplus since November last year, the surplus was at 4.1 bn ringgit ($ 1.078 bn), which was lower by 2 bn ringgit ($ 526.315 mm) from the previous month, the department said.
The trade surplus amounted to 26.2 bn ringgit ($ 6.894 bn) during the period under review against a deficit of 3.6 bn ringgit ($ 947.368 million) in the same period last year, according to the Statistics Department which released Monthly External Trade Statistics.

Eurozone trade surplus rises in December
EU25 trade was characterized by an increase in the EU25 surplus with the USA (+69.9 bn euro in January-November 2004 compared with +62.4 in January-November 2003), Switzerland (+ 12.1 bn compared with +11.3 bn) and Turkey (+ 6.6 bn compared with +2.9 bn).
The trade estimate of +5.7 bn is compared with +6.4 bn in December 2003.
The trade surplus in the euro zone widened by more than expected but a decline in exports and imports confirmed the fragility of the bloc's economic growth.
