B-1 Lancer "The Bone" - Great Planes - Flight Journal Magazine   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
From any angle, the Rockwell B-1 Lancer is a svelte, aerodynamic sculpture when compared to the rugged but aging B-52 it was designed to replace.
Originally conceived for nuclear weapons delivery, the Lancer was redesigned to meet changing world threats and was modified to carry conventional weapons as well as nukes.
With its four-man crew, 477,000-pound takeoff weight and trio of weapons bays, it stands poised, ready to drop any mix of ordnance on any type of target, wherever it may be.
