DeSylva's first successful songs were those used by Jolson on Broadway in the 1918 Sinbad production, which included "I'll Say She Does." DeSylva wrote for over ten musicals between 1919 and 1925, including La, La, Lucille (1919), several of George White's Scandals of the early '20s, and Captain Jinks (1925).
DeSylva left in 1931 to pursue a career as a movie producer, but also continued to write music for film and stage productions, such as Broadway's Take a Chance (1932).
DeSylva later held positions as head of Paramount Pictures, as a music publisher, and finally as a record executive at Capitol Records.

DeSylva's first successful songs were those used by Al Jolson on Broadway in the 1918 +Sinbad production, which included "I'll Say She Does." Soon thereafter he met Jolson and in 1918, the pair went to New York and De Sylva began working as a songwriter at Tin Pan Alley.
In 1925, he became one third of the songwriting team DeSylva, lyricist Brown and composer Henderson, one of the top Tin Pan Alley songwriters of the era.
DeSylva relocated to Hollywood and went under contract to Fox Studios.

Born George Gard DeSylva also known as Buddy, B.G. DeSylva was one of the great American lyricists, penning the words of hundreds of standards including works by Jerome Kern, George Gerswhin, Sammy Khan and as one third of the great songwriting team of Brown, Henderson & DeSylva.
DeSylva also penned the words to many pre-jazz popular and minstrel tunes including "Sonny Boy", "California Here I Come", "Varsity Drag", "Buton Up Your Overcoat" and tons more.
It measures 8x13" and is in good condition except: it has been quad-folded (three creases) for mailing, the upper crease has begun to split and someone has repaired this with tape.
