Volvo B7TL is a low-floor double decker bus which was launched in 1999 and replaced the 2-axle version of Volvo Olympian (its 3-axle version was replaced by Volvo Super Olympian).
Like the Olympian, the B7TL features a transversely-mounted rear engine and a shorter rear overhang, but the radiator is mounted on the right side of the engine compartment.
The B7TL chassis was initially built in Irvine, Scotland.

Volvo B7 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The B7 is available in several different forms the most common of which is the B7L, used as both a single and double decker chassis largely in Europe, it is a low floor citybus with a rear vertically mounted engine.
The B7TL is a model built solely for the British and Irish market and is built on a range of bodies as a double decker bus.
The bus features a transverse engine and a shorter rear overhang, as British hostiles seemed hesitant to purchase the B7L double decker with a long rear overhang (although some have since entered service in Glasgow, Scotland as 12m long double deckers).

Route 45   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
The 45's main claim to fame is that it has numerically the first Volvo B7TL low floor double deckers.
A definite merit for the Volvo over both the Dennis Trident and DAF DB250 is the level of noise produced; the B7TL is amazingly quiet.
Loss of the historical connections has meant the sections could be altered, and indeed the 45 has been extended from Brixton to Streatham Hill and the 345 diverted at Camberwell to Peckham, both providing new links.

The 45's main claim to fame is that it received (numerically) the first Volvo B7TL low floor double deckers.
Opinion is divided as to the relative merits of the various types of low floor double decker currently on the market: what is, I think, generally agreed is that they all leave plenty to be desired!

Australian Transport Discussion Board :: View topic - [HK] KMB New B9TL with Wright bodywork
B9TL is 3-axle and B7TL is 2-axle, engine on the B9TL is a D9C engine, B7TL uses the 7 litre engine (forgot the engine code).
The B9TL was originally developed as a 3-axle version of the B7TL, with a larger engine to cope with the added length and the use of air-conditioning on such buses.
However, with the upcoming changes for Euro IV, the B7TL looks as though it will be replaced by a two-axle B9TL (this will also see the B7L, B7LA and B7LT replaced by the B9L, B9LA and B9LT; the B7RLE will simply gain a new compliant 7-litre engine).
