The Jetstream 41 is a turboprop-powered feederliner and regional airliner, originally designed by British Aerospace as a "stretched" version of the popular Handley Page Jetstream.
The stretch added 16 ft (4.88 m) to the fuselage, consisting of a 8 foot (2.5 m) plug forward of the wing and a 7 ft 9 in (2.36 m) plug to the rear.
BAe decided to "spin off" the Jetstream division in 1993, and "BAe" was dropped from the name of the aircraft.

The Handley Page HP.137 Jetstream was a small twin turboprop airliner, with a pressurised fuselage, designed to meet the requirements of the United States feederliner and regional airline market.
This allowed the aircraft to be offered in an 18 seat option (6 rows(2+1)), with a centre aisle, and the ability to operate at maximum load form a much greater range of airfields particularly in the continental United States and Australia.

BAE Systems completed an upgrade programme for the Jetstream 32 resulting in the Jetstream 32EP (enhanced performance) aircraft, certificated in 1997, which has short field capability and hot and high operational performance.
The enhancements to EP standard are available as an upgrade to Jetstream 32 aircraft and include improvements in the capability of the Goodrich braking system, the installation of drag reduction devices, propeller ground idle adjustment and V speed operation, alternative take-off flap settings and revisions to the flight manual.

In 1978 Scottish Aviation was absorbed as a Division of British Aerospace, and on December 5, 1978 a new version of the Jetstream was announced.
The Jetstream 32 is further uprated (1020shp TPE331-12) and features the Edam installation to wings and tail improving the aerodynamics, as well as cockpit upgrades.
The aircraft departed from Auckland on November 30, 1998 for Latrobe, PA. The registration was cancelled on December 4, 1998, and the aircraft became N651VN.

 Jobs go as BAe kills Jetstream
BRITISH Aerospace is to shed 380 jobs at its factory in Prestwick, Scotland, by ending the manufacture of its Jetstream 41 commuter aircraft by the end of this year.
BAe was making a loss of £1m on every one.
BAe's entire commercial aerospace division made an operating loss of £78m last year and yesterday's move sent the group's shares up 26p to £12.51.5.

 BAe Asset Management Placing More Jetstream 31/32s
Two additional customers have acquired BAe Jetstream 31/32 turboprops for business use, the company said Monday.
Rowlands said that more than 400 Jetstreams have been placed, 42 of a targeted 58 so far this year.
By the end of this year the number will be down to 35, he said, noting a potential market for 30 19-seaters per year for the next three to five years.

The Jetstream 41 is a stretched and modernized development of the 19 seat Jetstream 31, designed to compete in the 29 seat commuter airliner class alongside such types as the Brasilia, Dornier 328 and Saab 340.
