		In March 2003 the BBC announced that from the end of May 2003 (subsequently deferred to July 14) it intended to transmit all eight of its domestic television channels (including the 15 regional variations of BBC ONE) unencrypted from the Astra 2D satellite.
		A contemporary music station, BBC Radio 1, was launched in 1967 in response to pirate radio stations (most of which closed on or before the introduction of new legislation on 15 August, 1967), and the present numbered names were adopted on the same day, 30 September, 1967.
		BBC ONE is the home to the BBC's main news bulletins, currently being shown at 1pm, 6pm and 10pm GMT (or British Summer Time, depending on the time of the year).

		The defection from the BBC to ITV of sports presenter, Des Lynham, was big news at the time, however this was nothing to the shock that hit the North East when BBC Look North anchor-man, Mike Neville announced he was leaving for the ITV rival.
		With the station ID changing, the news programme had to alter it's name too, and "North East Tonight with Mike Neville" was born.
		The theme music and logo for North East News and North East Tonight were both simply redone versions of the Tyne Tees News logos.

		I wish to make a complaint about a news item that appeared on the BBC Look East evening news last night (21/12/04), which appeared to break the BBC guidelines on impartiality.
		You correctly state "the British forces in Iraq are routinely referred to as peacekeeping forces by the British government." However, the last time I checked the BBC was supposed to be an independent news organisation.
		The term "peacekeeping duties" is a value judgement (made by the Government and the BBC), however my example of the soldiers being "on active duty in Iraq" is far more impartial, precise and factual.
