BBC Radio Cumbria is the BBC Local Radio service for the English county of Cumbria and broadcasts from studios in Carlisle.
Radio Cumbria claims to be listened to by one third of the county's population.
On FM, Radio Cumbria broadcasts to northern Cumbria on 95.6 MHz (Sandale) and to the south of the county on 96.1 MHz (Morecambe Bay), with lower-powered relays on 95.2 MHz (Kendal), 104.1 MHz (Whitehaven) and 104.2 MHz (Windermere).

BBC Radio Cleveland is the BBC Local Radio service for the English areas of Teesside, County Durham and some of North Yorkshire.
It became known as Radio Cleveland on 1 April 1974, when the county of Cleveland was formed, and moved to new offices in 1983.
This transmits the main television signals for Teesside and North Yorkshire, and national radio frequencies, as well as the commercial stations TFM on 96.6FM, 100-102 Century FM on 100.7FM and Galaxy 105-106 on 106.4FM.

Sandale houses the main Radio Cumbria transmitter, broadcasting on 96.4FM, although poor reception in West Cumbria led to the introduction of a new frequency of 104.1FM in 1997 from the Whitehaven FM transmitter.

I must admit i was never a keen listener to Radio Cumbria and back in 1995 was glad to hear CFM come to air.
BBC local stations used to have more of their own identity before, even adjacent stations would be quite different to one another.
BBC Radio Cumbria has improved over the last year and their coverage of the floods was brilliant beyond words.
