BBC Radio Cymru is BBC Wales\' Welsh language radio station, broadcasting throughout Wales on FM since 1979.
Radio Cymru was the first dedicated Welsh language broadcasting outlet, allowing much more airtime for Welsh language programmes than had previously been available on the old Radio 4 Wales (or the Welsh Home Service prior to 1967).
The evening output (from 8pm) of Radio Cymru is branded "C2" and is aimed at a younger audience than the rest of the station.

BBC Radio Deeside Following the closure of the Shotton Steelworks in February 1980, Radio Deeside was re-established on a more permanent basis as an opt-out service from Radio Wales.
BBC Radio Clwyd In October 1981 Radio Deeside had its transmission area extended, moved to studios in Mold (then later Wrexham) and was renamed Radio Clwyd.
Radio Gwent was available on FM, and since its closure has continued to relay the national Radio Wales service on the same FM frequencies to the Monmouthshire area.

In December 1998 the BBC's Board of Governors confirmed an allocation of £6 million to BBC Wales to fund a full journalistic response to the creation of the National Assembly of Wales.

BBC Wales has also retained the option to extend this programme until 2320 and is likely to do so whenever the Assembly is sitting.

Radio Caroline came on line in Easter 1964 and was followed by Radio London in December 1964.
Radio Moscow could be recieved clearly as could the vatican Radio, Voice of America, Radio's Suisse, France and Nederlands(Hilversum) and Very occasionally I could also get Beijing, Australia and Albania but the reception was appalling.
Having said that, I listened to contemporary Welsh pop music on the radio on whilst at university (in Wales) and whilst living in Ireland to the local stations for the music and updates on the latest political shennanigans.

From the BBC, these are a second, much more ‘sporty’ version of BBC Radio Five Live, both versions of BBC Radio Four and several test channels for the more technically-minded amongst us.
Shame on the BBC, though, for failing to update BBC Vision Radio for 4 days - old news stories and old weather forecasts are an embarrassment given that the source - BBC Online - is one of the best websites in the world and is updated 24/7.
