Jo de Garis, Director of Marketing for Guernsey Post, was also delighted by the amount raised and went on to say “Residents in Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and Herm have all been extremely generous, with contributions amounting to a truly staggering total in such a short amount of time”.
Guernsey Post encouraged staff to make their own donations using these envelopes at the Company’s headquarters with a pledge to match whatever total was raised – over £4,500 was collected and the Company matched it.

Radio Caroline can still be heard in the USA on Short Wave via the facilities of WBCQ The Planet in Maine USA from Thursday through to Sunday and a good response has also been received to those broadcasts from listeners in the Americas as well...
Commercial radio was still a few years away so the only alternative was BBC local radio, where the financial rewards were meagre.

One of Radio Cambridgeshire's most popular presenters, Richard Spendlove, claims to have the longest running chat show in broadcasting; his Saturday night show has run since the late 1980s and is heard on several BBC local radio stations across the Eastern Counties.
The BBC Coventry and Warwickshire name was first used, however, for an opt-out service of Radio WM from May 1995, which replaced the area's first BBC radio station, CWR; this became known as 'BBC WM across Coventry and Warwickshire' around 2001.

The headline on the BBC Radio Guernsey website "Guernsey offers a first time opportunity for a UK band" sums up the success and experience of the Band’s four day tour to Guernsey in August, where we represented the Royal Borough at the North Show and Battle of Flowers festivities.
On the previous day at the North Show and while being interviewed live on air by BBC Radio Guernsey, we had been asked if we would like to have a spot on the John Randall Show live in the studio the next day.
After some initial nerves (it was the first time anyone had been in a live radio studio!) we used the time well, played excellent music and it was a great experience too.
