Radio Norfolk was one of the first BBC local stations to be based around a county, rather than a town or city; it was also the first to broadcast in stereo (though only to East Norfolk; the remainder of the county had to wait until 2005 for stereo broadcasts).

After exhaustive testing by Radio Lincolnshire staff for the past six months the pilot scheme has been judged so successful that it is to be rolled out to all BBC radio stations across the UK.
The BBC says that the technology means that its journalists now spend less time in the office and more time out in the field producing an average of 50 per cent more audio than using conventional recording devices.

A BBC radio journalist and Dutch technology company Technica del Artehave developed a gizmo that could herald the end of "air-conditioned journalism".
BBC Radio Lincolnshire teamed up with the to convert a Pocket PC mobile phone into a professional recording device capable of sending high-quality sound from anywhere that is covered by a mobile phone signal or a wi-fi hotspot.
According to Charlie Partridge, Radio Lincolnshire's managing editor, as a result of the new device, his journalists now spend less time in the office and more time out in the field, producing an average of 50 per cent more audio than using conventional recording devices.

A flag for Lincolnshire was unveiled at five separate ceremonies across the county on October 24, 2005.
The flag was chosen in a vote organised by BBC Radio Lincolnshire along with Lincolnshire Life magazine.
The blue on the flag represents the sea and sky of Lincolnshire and the green symbolises the fields, while the fleur de lys represents the City of Lincoln.

Since that time I've had a full-time contract with BBC Radio Derby working mainly in the newsroom as producer, newsreader and reporter but I'm now working as a freelance broadcast journalist.
My work with BBC Radio Derby has included a 6-month spell as their North Derbyshire Reporter which meant working alone in a district office, finding and reporting on local stories.

I love the new DAB digital radio set I got the other week and the sound is great, but my local station Kingdom FM is not on digital.
When the multiplex for Humberside was advertised, there was a requirement for BBC Radio Humberside to be carried on the multiplex, as a condition of the licence to run the multiplex.
The Perstel radio is only about 6 hours on an AA battery which is not a lot...

Doonvarna are one of Lincolnshire’s most exciting and dynamic bands, playing a traditional and contemporary folk and folk-rock mix.
The four-piece line-up boasts vocals, flute, whistles, guitars, bass, keyboard, drums and percussion which combine to produce a powerful and varied mix of traditional and original material, all played in the band’s distinctive folk-rock style.
In 2002, the band were one of two runners-up in BBC Radio Lincolnshire’s ‘Write a Lincolnshire Folk Song Competition’ at a packed Spilsby Theatre with their own song ‘Slash Hollow’ — “…a song the Levellers would have been proud of…” (BBC Radio Lincolnshire website).
