From 7pm until 1am, the station joins up with the rest of BBC local radio in the BBC East region, who are covered by the evening BBC news programme, Look East.
The station has two transmitters, with 104.2 FM broadcast from the Boughton Green Road area of Northampton, and 103.6 FM broadcast from a mast near the village of Geddington.
Listeners can tune in to 104.2 in the south and west of the county (including Northampton and surrounding area), whereas 103.6 serves the north and east (including Kettering and Corby).

Radio Norfolk was one of the first BBC local stations to be based around a county, rather than a town or city; it was also the first to broadcast in stereo (though only to East Norfolk; the remainder of the county had to wait until 2005 for stereo broadcasts).

At the BBC Frank Gillard awards, which were held last night, BBC Radio Manchester was named station of the year, the award which BBC Radio Berkshire and BBC London 94.9 were also up for.
BBC Hereford & Worcester added a Gillard to the Sony they won earlier in the year when they claimed the Social Action Campaign category for their mental illness project.

 BBC Inspiration
The show on BBC Radio Northampton called "Inspiration" will be a mix of music - including reggae, soul, soca and RandB - and interviews with local people from across the county.
Mark Dean, one of the founders of Inspiration FM, will present the new programme "Inspiration" from the studios at BBC Radio Northampton and the core of 10 people who have been working at Inspiration FM as a twice yearly RSL, will also work on the new hour and a half programme.

A new radio show for travellers and gypsies in the East of England was launched by the BBC this weekend.
Rokker Radio (Sundays 1800-2000 UTC) is presented by Jake Bowers, Britain’s only Romany journalist, and is a weekly radio show broadcast across six local radio stations in the BBC East region.
Jake started working for the BBC a few months ago when he launched Rokker Radio (the Romany term for Talk Radio) on BBC Three Counties Radio, broadcasting across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghashire.

Well if you listened to BBC Radio Northampton just a few days ago you may well have heard us have a chat to Jimmy Perry, the creator and writer of TV sit-coms Dad's Army and Hi-De-Hi.
Yeah, he was well known on radio he was quite a sort of a feature player on 'Educating Archie'...
We went to the Barclays Bank in Streatham Common to, when we got our first cheque it was paid by the BBC and it was a Barclays cheque so we thought "Well we'll open an account at Barclays Bank, if it's good enough for the BBC it must be good enough for us".
