The Church of England's Diocese of Lichfield has called on the BBC to rethink its decision to axe the popular "Sunday Service" programme on BBC Radio Shropshire.

Not only does it help meet the spiritual needs of 79 per cent of the people of Shropshire who described themselves as Christian in the recent census, it also gives ordinary people in towns and villages throughout the county, a positive real engagement with the BBC.
