By 1988 BBC TV South (and BBC Radio Solent) was finally able to leave behind their aging facilities at South Western House and move to a new custom-built studio complex in Havelock Road opposite the Civic Centre in Southampton.
Here is the BBC South regional version of the BBC One balloon ident featuring the Sussex Downs as used before local news and regional programmes, though there was another South-specific balloon ident showing the Isle of Wight's Needles rock formation that was used as well.
And it wasn't long afterwards that the BBC News corporate look was subsequently updated to reflect the changes in general news presentation, with the regional news title sequences now featuring clips of activities from the local region that were similar to the changes subsequently made to the News 24 'on the hour' countdown sequence.

South Africa's leading body for specialist doctors has criticised delays by the country's health ministry in providing anti-Aids drugs to pregnant women.
But the South African government says it lacks the infrastructure and funds to roll out a national treatment programme; instead, it has restricted availability to a few "pilot sites".
In its statement on Tuesday, the South African Colleges of Medicine - which represents 7,000 specialist doctors and 2,000 family practitioners - said the failure to begin providing the drug to women with HIV was "unethical".

The BBC’s South Asia services were amongst those hit as staff at the Corporation, protesting job cuts and privatisation plans, went on strike Monday severely disrupting several TV and radio networks.
The BBC’s Tamil service provided almost normal service despite employees joining the protest as senior staff crossed the picket lines of what was described as the “most successful strike in BBC history,” sources said.
The proposed job cuts and plans to privatise parts of the BBC were "savage" and would "decimate programmes [and] devalue the BBC", the unions have said.

Spanning April through June, all BBC tournaments are governed by a uniform set of rules controlling minimum lengths for qualifying billfish, line class, fishing hours and entry fees.
