BBC Wales (BBC Cymru in Welsh) is the regional branch of the British Broadcasting Corporation for Wales.
BBC Wales produces television programming in English and Welsh both for the regional opt-out sections of the BBC One and Two network feeds, and for the dedicated Welsh-language channel S4C.
The BBC National Orchestra of Wales is resident at BBC Wales and performs regularly throughout Wales and internationally.

BBC Radio Wales is the BBC's national radio station broadcasting to Wales in the English language.
For many years Radio Wales was broadcast only on medium wave; the BBC considered that because the Welsh language network BBC Radio Cymru was the only network using that language, it merited a higher quality of transmission.
BBC Radio Wales is also broadcast on DAB Digital Radio and on satellite.

S4C (Sianel Pedwar Cymru - 'Channel Four Wales') is a Welsh-language television channel broadcasting in Wales, United Kingdom, which was established in response to demands for a channel to cater for the Welsh-speaking minority population in Wales.
Previously Welsh speakers had been served by occasional programmes in Welsh broadcast as regional opt-outs on BBC Wales and HTV (the ITV station in Wales), often at obscure times.
It has been known for people on the North and South coasts of Wales to point their TV aerials at the nearest English transmitters to avoid S4C, as well as BBC Wales and ITV Wales.

The BBC has launched an ambitious project aimed at providing specialised content to regions across the UK, and there's a highly original twist: most of the content will be provided by members of the public.
The Where I Live project is spearheaded by BBC Wales, and its pilot site caters for residents of north-east Wales, though the plan is to expand the offering to include all of Wales, and ultimately, the rest of the UK.
BBC Wales is running digital storytelling workshops, and once trained in computer skills and the use of digital cameras and image manipulation software, locals get to create “living, moving scrapbooks” which they can share with the rest of the world.

 Jazz in Wales
BBC Jazz Award winners Tony Kofi and Gwilym Simcock headline another great weekend of jazz at Fishguard in west Wales from September 15 to 17.
Welsh language channel S4C and BBC Wales will be recording some of the main attractions at this year's Brecon Jazz Festival for a series of TV specials.
Meanwhile BBC Wales will be recording a jazz pianists special to be presented by Julian Joseph and a concert by Liane Carroll, both for broadcast later in the year on the digital channel BBC Four.

Newport-based photographer Paul Seawright went to Afghanistan to produce an exhibition for the Imperial War Museum to document the effects of the War against Terror and decades of earlier conflicts.
Paul's special reports for Good Morning Wales and the half-hour feature, 'Afghanistan: Ashes to Dust', cover life in the capital, Kabul, before setting out on a journey through former battlefields to the north of the country to see the work of the mine-clearance group, the Halo Trust.
Originally from Belfast - Paul recognised some of the weapons being destroyed as those used at one time by the IRA - he is the director of the Centre for Photographic Research at the University College of Wales, Newport.

Parts of rural Wales could be prime targets for new nuclear power station developments, a politician has warned.
"Worrying news for Wales": Simon Thomas MP "The last nuclear power station, which was built at Sizewell in Suffolk 10 years ago cost 2.3bn," he added.
The study - which used data from the Wales Cancer Registry - shows that three cases of the cancer were discovered in children up to the age of four between 1974 and 1990 in Chepstow, compared to the national average of 0.27.

Ian Skidmore, Lionel Kelleway and Phil Rickman, who have all had long and successful careers with BBC Wales, were recently told that their services were no longer required.
The claim identifies BBC Wales and Daniel Jones, the commissioning executive, as the joint respondents.
A spokesman for BBC Wales said: "We can categorically deny that there is any question of discrimination against presenters because of their accents, English or otherwise." The corporation employed a number of presenters "whose accents could be described as non-Welsh or English", he said.

The Welsh Assembly has agreed to a public inquiry into the plans to store radioactive waste at a former nuclear power station in north Wales for the next 100 years.
Council for National Park's planning expert Ruth Chambers said: "This issue is of national importance for both Wales and the rest of the UK because of its location in the Snowdonia National Park and the huge scale of activity that would follow from the proposals."
