		BC Place will be the host of the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympic games.
		Currently, its main sports tenant is the BC Lions of the Canadian Football League; formerly, it was the home of the Vancouver Whitecaps of the North American Soccer League, who occupied it in the early 80s.
		BC Place is busy with over 200 event days per year and contributes over 40 million dollars per year in economic benefits to the Province of British Columbia.

		B.C. Government and Service Employees’ Union (BCGEU) members have lifted their picket lines at BC Place for 48 hours as a gesture of good faith to the Vancouver International Boat Show and its exhibitors in light of the announcement by the Minister of Labour.
		“We pushed the government to look at the problems with the wage guidelines applied to BC Place and the concessions being demanded, and the Minister of Labour has agreed to appoint the Deputy Minister to look into those issues with, as he puts it, a fresh set of eyes,” said George Heyman, BCGEU president.
		The workers at BC Place are seeking modest wage improvements to keep up with inflation.
