The conference commissioner with the biggest smile on Wednesday was the Mountain West's Craig Thompson.
That payoff will be similar to what a member of a BCS conference would receive, a bit over $1 million a year.

If the conference were to bring this to the table I definitely think that the conference should be granted an automatic BCS bid.
As it is, the BigEast is the only BCS conference w/o an anchor BCS bowl for 2006 and beyond (B10, P10 has Rose, B12 Fiesta, SEC Sugar, ACC Orange), and with the 5th bowl, the top12 and top16 rules, the MWC and all other mid-majors really shouldn't gripe that much.
BCS Bowl bound is not intended to mean the team is necessarily a top ten or top five team.
