  RAF - Cluster Bombs
The BL755 bomb dispenses its bomblets into the airflow shortly after the weapon leaves the aircraft, and on impact with the ground, or a target, the bomblets detonate, producing a high-velocity plasma jet that can penetrate armour up to 250mm thick.
Both the BL755 and the IBL755 bombs are delivered from low-level attacks.
RBL755 is a modification of the original BL755 to give the cluster bomb an anti-armour capability from a medium-level attack.

The BL755 bomb and BL755 submunition were developed and are manufactured by Hunting Engineering Limited, Ampthill, Bedford, England, United Kingdom.
The BL755 submunition is a dual mode, anti-personnel/anti-vehicle type with both a shaped charge (High Explosive Anti-Tank) and a shrapnel effect.
It is known that the BL755 has been sold to at least 12 nations and additional sales on the heels of several recent major British aircraft sales are projected.

 BL755 Cluster Munition: 19 Jul 2006: Written answers (TheyWorkForYou.com)
Information on the failure rate of the BL755 cluster bomb used by the RAF is collected during regular in-service surveillance trials.
The results of these trials are used to confirm the reliability of the BL755 cluster bomb for operational use.
Some analysis of the accuracy and performance of BL755 cluster bombs used during operations has been undertaken; however, the reliability of individual weapons was not specifically addressed as part of this analysis.

Kosovo - a Wasteland Called Peace
BL755 Cluster Bomb: The BL755 dual purpose cluster bomb is a product of the UK arms company Hunting Engineering of Ampthill, Bedford who boast that the weapon is "devastating over a wide area".
The bomblet is designed to explode on impact causing a combined anti-armour and anti-personnel effect, the latter consisting of a fragmentation blast containing in excess of 2000 metal fragments.
Despite official denials it is widely accepted by experts that the BL755 has a probable design failure rate due to malfunctions as high as 5% which would increase substantially due to incorrect delivery.

The BL755 looks like a standard 1,000 lb (450 kg) store but with a hard "saddle" on the spine for ejector release and crutching pad loads and a distinctive large Turbine-like air arming vane on the nose.
The four rear fins are very squared off in appearance, but on closer inspection can be seen to be hollow and telescopic.
