Star Trek: Nemesis - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Star Trek: Nemesis is the tenth feature film based on the popular Star Trek science fiction television series.
The film, as with Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, was cut by about a third from a much longer running time, which caused the integrity of the story to suffer as a result.
The poor performance of the film, coupled with the generally low ratings of Star Trek: Enterprise (the series was cancelled in 2005) has left the franchise with an uncertain future.

 STAR TREK: NEMESIS - DVD
For a film in a tired franchise trying to duplicate Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (inarguably the best of the cinematic "Trek" line) down to an articulate arch villain, heroic sacrifice, and mind-meld cheat, the irony of having the central conflict revolve around a defective clone is delicious and hilarious.
Star Trek: Nemesis (hereafter Nemesis) is abominable pretension draped in the sheep's frock of sci-fi pulp--pap of the first water invested in undergraduate doubling subtexts and ridiculous stabs at existentialism reminding of the discovery of the wizard of God in the fifth Trek flick.
The Dolby Digital 5.1 soundmix is more undistinguished than that of Star Trek: Insurrection for belonging to a somehow talkier film, though any time the Enterprise is on a gimbal there is a vigorous amount of bass and some fury that trickles into the rear channels.

Star Trek Nemesis (Paramount Pictures, 2002; see also 2002 in film) is the tenth feature film based on the popular Star Trek science fiction television series.
It was billed as "A generation's final journey begins" and is widely believed to be the last Star Trek film to feature the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The film was released four years after the previous film, Star Trek: Insurrection — the longest gap between films to date — and some defenders of the movie feel this interval might have also contributed to the film underperforming.

This pattern continued once the crew of Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) took over; of the three TNG films prior to this year’s Nemesis, only the middle TNG film (and eighth film overall) - First Contact - was a hit with fans and general audiences alike.
Star Trek: Nemesis was hoped to be the TNG crew’s Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, but it’s not even The Search for Spock.
The B4 subplot, abandoned in the second half of the film, serves no purpose other than to reinforce the “duality” theme of the film.

Sadly, in keeping Star Trek: Nemesis within the terms of the entire series of films and television series, it continues the general feeling of disappointment, failing to expand upon what we already know about the crew and the world in which they live and being forced to maintain some kind of continuity with its predecessors.
Star Trek: Nemesis - better than Generations and Insurrection; on a par with First Contact - suffers from quite a similar fate, with it recalling that finale of the third season/opening episode of the fourth even down to the capture of Picard and the epic space battle against a more powerful opponent.

Star Trek fans would (for the most part) love it because it would bring back Kirk, but a casual viewer might think it's a little hokey to have some machine reanimate the dead, even if it's just one time.

The tenth feature film in the “Star Trek” franchise and the fourth to feature the characters from “Star Trek: The Next Generation” probably seemed like a good idea on paper.
The film has moments in it that seem to contradict elements within the “Star Trek” universe such as the whole “B4” subplot and the discovery of it.
Though not the worst “Star Trek” feature film ever made, “Star Trek: Nemesis” is a flawed entry in the series that does play better at home than it did on the big screen.
