Western (genre) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Westerns, by definition, are set in the American West, almost always in the 19th century, generally between the Antebellum period and the turn of the century.
An offshoot of the western genre is the "post-apocalyptic" western, in which a future society, struggling to rebuild after a major catastrophe, is portrayed in a manner very similar to the 19th century frontier.
Western fiction got its start in the "penny dreadfuls" and later the "dime novels" that first began to be published in the mid-nineteenth century.

Submarine film - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Despite the drama of the battle scenes in submarine films, however, the mainstay of the tension in these movies occurs away from battle, which sets this subgenre apart from its parent genre of war films.
This is a list of movies in which a submarine plays a significant role in the storyline.
Films of this subgenre typically focus on a small but determined crew of submariners battling against not only their enemies, but also the extreme pressure of being underwater (as their submarines typically descend past "hull crush depth", a depth which varies from movie to movie) and being in such close proximity to one another.
