Badajoz (province): Dictionary definition   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-15)
Badajoz is a province of western Spain, in the southern part of the autonomous community of Extremadura.
Its one large river is the Guadiana, which traverses the north of the province from east to west, fed by many tributaries; but it is only at certain seasons that the river-beds fill with any considerable volume of water, and the Guadiana may frequently be forded without difficulty.
Many parts of the province are inaccessible except by road, and the roads are ill-made, ill-kept and wholly insufficient.

The concept of the proposed project is to contribute to biodiversity conservation of Cat Ba National Park by raising awareness and appreciation on the Park of the local authorities and community, and enhancing the co-operation in the Park management and protection between the Park management board and the local authorities, army forces and the community.
The primary purpose of the proposed project is to control land degradation and desertification in the project area through developing an agroforestry model which suits the local socio-economic and physical conditions, especially the waste land which has lost agricultural potential, and the arid climate and weather, hence contributing to regreening the area.
The project supports the forestry programmes of the province of Thanh Hoa through developing the model which has the potential to be largely replicated in all the province where the same problem of bamboo forest degradation has occurred, contributing to poverty alleviation for the ethnic communities in the province.
