Deku juice, as you housewives out there already know, is simply a mixture of spring water, the juice of Spectrum Mountain Apples, and a touch of herbs only found in deku sticks, which give the beverage its unique taste.
Deku trees, the sentient, wise beings of deku wood and oak that they were, formed the center of Kokiri lifestyle and society in the ancient days of forest tribes and guardian faerie symbioses.
Sometimes deku sticks, when moist and raw in the earth, could be freshly plucked, shaved of their bark, and revealed to contain a soft and moist tissue beneath for green-eaters to eat into.

So you’re supposed to choose one day (your “baba”) from one of the first nine days of March, known to be traditionally fickle weatherwise, see whether it’s rainy, snowy, windy, or sunny, and expect the rest of the year to be like that for you.
The most common one features Baba Dochia, an old shepherd woman who wore 12 or 9 cojoace (shepherd's coats), which she started to shed one by one at the beginning of March, which caused the aforementioned changes in weather.
Some legends place her at the formation of the Romanian people, when the Romans conquered the Dacians in 106, and the Dacian leader, Decebal, died in battle; his daughter, Dochia, pursued by Trajan (the Roman emperor who wanted her as a wife), fled to the mountains.
