Baba Vanga - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Baba Vanga (Баба Ванга) (31 January 1911 - 11 August 1996) was a famous Bulgarian prophet that lived in the Rupite area in Rila mountain, Bulgaria.
Vanga was born in Strumica (Republic of Macedonia) and lived in Bulgaria in the town of Petrich.
Vanga did not ever say anything against mainstream medicine, although she thought that taking too much medicine is bad, because “they close the doors, through which nature restores the balance in the body with herbs”.

NOTES FROM HISTORY: Baba Vanga - news
Evangelia “Vanga” Dimitrova, or Baba Vanga, as she was know to many Bulgarians, is a powerful, mystical figure in Bulgaria’s recent history, whose prophecies have been compared by some to those of Nostradamus.
The popular story goes that when she was a child, Vanga was caught in a storm or twister, which uprooted trees, blew sand and dust into her eyes and whisked her into the air, before leaving her in a field some distance from her house.
That notwithstanding, accounts from Bulgarians portray Vanga as a humble woman who wanted to help people; gaining fame for her predictions was not her motivation, and such criticisms seem irrelevant in the face of the respect that Bulgarians have for her and the high esteem in which she is held.

Twelve kilometres northeast of Petrich, RUPITE is famed in Bulgaria as the home village and burial place of the oracle Baba Vanga.
Vanga's subsequent prophecies and healing skills gained her a wide following (including Politburo members), and her vision of Varna engulfed by water was vindicated when it was discovered that the city stood upon an underground lake - from which day on, high-rise building was prohibited.
After her death in 1996, Vanga was buried in the Sveta Petka Church, a post-modern fusion of Slav and Byzantine design, decorated with expressionist murals and icons by the contemporary artist Svetlin Rusev, and surrounded by an unusually well-watered and manicured park.
