Babruyka is a small river in Belarus, a tributary to the Berezina river.
It flows through the city of Babruysk and is named after the beavers which used to inhabit it.
Due to industrial pollution, there are no more animals inhabiting the river and its flow has been reduced to a fraction of its former self.

Zhlobin (Belarusian: Жло́бін; Russian: Жло́бин) is a city in the Homel voblast of Belarus, on the Dnepr river.
Investigations by archeologists revealed that in the 5th and 6th centuries there existed Slavic settlements up the river Berezina from where Babruysk is currently located; findings of stone tools and weapons suggest that people have lived in the area since the stone age.
In the 14th century a castle was built on one of the hills near the Berezina River.

It is one of the best surviving examples of fortification architecture and design in the first half of the 19th century.
The fortress was constructed in the historic center of the city, at the merging of the Babruyka and Berezina rivers.
However, after his investigation, Narbut advised his superiors that a more strategic position would be on the shore of the Berezina river near Babruysk.
