Classic Rock B   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-21)
A concept album about baby boomers and their experiences, the album was a commercial disappointment, only selling a million copies, but it did earn him some of his better reviews, as well as spawning the Top 20 hits "Pressure" and "Allentown." Joel quickly followed the album in 1983 with the oldies pastiche An Innocent Man.
When they returned to action in July 1975 with their sixth album, Sabotage, they were welcomed back at home, but in the U.S. the musical climate had changed, making things more difficult for an album-oriented band with a heavy style, and though the LP reached the Top 20, it did not match previous sales levels.
The album shipped gold and topped the LP charts for two weeks in mid-1970, and the single "Hi-De-Ho" made it to number 14, but the edge was off and the numbers didn't keep soaring week after week as the sales of their prior two LPs had.

Bad Boy was included on Rarities even though it had already been released in England on A Collection Of Beatles Oldies.
The two channels were combined into one, in Japan, for the purposes of issuing the single (for their singles were still mono then).
Following the LP's initial release as a picture disc, it was reissued in February 1981 as a conventional album (Capitol SPRO 9469), with the graphics from both sides of the record becoming the front and back covers.

Ground and Sky review - Yes - Yessongs
This was the first Yes album I bought, back before I had ever heard the term "progressive rock" (back then, I just knew that I liked bands who tended to use a lot of keyboards and have long songs).
Eventually the album grew on me though, and since I gradually turned into a major Yes fanboy (the second half of the 90s cured me of that), I guess this set is a good place for new fans to start.
The lineup for these shows is similar to the one that recorded the three albums in question, with the exception of Alan White on drums for most of it instead of Bill Bruford.

 The BOC FAQ
The album contained live performances of songs off the first three albums, plus "Buck's Boogie", "Maserati GT" (Pearlman's dream car, or a re-working of the Yardbirds' "I Ain't Got You") and Steppenwolf's elegy to the summer of love, "Born To Be Wild" -- in which Eric and Donald's Texas chainsaw guitar duel attains brain-shattering modulation.
Their third album (*Box Of Hammers*) was released in 1996, their fourth album (*Malpractise*) was released in 1997, both on the Cellsum label - both of these albums were released by "Ripe and Ready" in 1998.
This album was discontinued in the U.S., although it was re-released in March of 1997 on Koch records, with new liner notes.

The album's strongest track is the catchy and very memorable “The Last Day in the Life of a Rocket Scientist.” This song highlights the bands ability to write a hook that will stay with you long past the final notes of the album.
This feel good album is highlighted by the catchy “Today” and the danceable “Luigi.” The album clocks in at just under 30 minutes for 10 great songs that will leave you anticipating Luigi’s follow-up record later this year or early next year.
This pristine album is full of rich and haunting melodies that are delivered by a band who knows how to use texture and dynamic without sacrificing a solid, driving hook.

This is a completly disjointed album that veers way too far towards predictable pop rock for my liking...while Agents Of Fortune was a masterful blend of pop and their early dark, eerie style, this is a mess.
Easily the worst album yet, probably at least partially a result of one of the original members of the band leaving before the album was recorded.
Remember when the album was produced/recorded and think of all the other crap that was popular at that time and to what legnths even phenominal performers will go to try to recreate that #1 hit or to finally achieve one.

Adoration: The Worship Album - Newsboys
Sounds like … inspired by the success of their hit single "It Is You," the modern pop band creates four more songs that sound just like it, and combine it with covers of other worship songs and new live renditions of their worshipful singles.
Inspired by the tremendous success of "It Is You" (which was shockingly overlooked for the 2003 Dove Awards), the band felt it was high time to release their own worship recording.
The problem with Adoration is the overall album, which might best be viewed as the Newsboys' answer to the success of Third Day's Offerings projects.

They're last studio album Curse of the Hidden Mirror is great...I honestly think it's their most consistently strong album ever.
A couple of the things that make me a BOC fan are the facts that every album doesn't sound the same, yet each one has the distinctive BOC sound, and that on top of their musical proficiency they consistently write songs with intelligent lyrics that are often SF or horror related.
Like a lot of bands, they keep cranking out solid albums, but without radio play they have to rely on word of mouth and touring to get the songs out to anyone.

That's my impression and it's how it works in my band; though also, in my band, I hear music and then write lyrics to fit the mood of the music.
Since Bad Channels I've written numerous other lyrics which BÖC is using (of course I write far more than they use; I'm too prolific for my own good, that is, for consistent quality) on the new LP.
I often fax lyrics to Don Roeser (Buck) and he writes around them or fits them to something he has, or, perhaps, puts them in a drawer and forgets about them.
