  August Review
For the bad girl, the problem with feminism is that it has an agenda: the "postfeminist" woman is a free agent who refuses to be defined or labeled; for her, allegiances are merely limitations.
The sexy bad girls are repeatedly victimized and violated - robbed, beaten, raped - during the film and in response they display a feisty, "virile" sexuality: they ride, they swagger, they indulge their appetites, and, of course, they take revenge.
The bad girls' central aim is to achieve pleasure at any cost and it is this pleasure that is posited as evidence of their liberation.

 BAD GIRLS DORMITORY (1985)
The plot of the film is the same as many a prison-drama with three young tarts being duped into various crimes in the big bad city and ending up in the lock-up for their troubles.
One spotty and frumpy beauty is snagged as a prostitute working in a porn film (how appropriate) while another is caught with a bag of heroin her boyfriend dumps on her while a third is done for murder.
The film is devoid of any slightest shred of style or artistry and indeed it is quite a shock to find stuff of this level of "quality" even released on video at all.

Bad Girls from Valley High is the story of three unimaginatively named popular girls who “rule the school” (you know, just like in Heathers, Clueless, Jawbreaker, Mean Girls, etc).

 [No title]
"Bad Girls" is another film that all the male critics I have read absolutely hate and the women I know who have seen it like quite a lot.
What's different about it, of course, is that the "good guys" are the "bad girls" of the title played by Madeline Stowe, Mary Stuart Masterson, Andie MacDowell, and Drew Barrymore, who, as the film begins are all working as prostitutes in a saloon in Texas in the 1890s.
The first shot establishes this as a film with some feminist consciousness as Anita (Masterson), one of the whores, sits in her room reading a newspaper story about the exploits of Nellie Bly, the famous woman reporter who travelled around the world in 72 days.

At the time, in a climate of sensationalism, the girls quickly confessed to their crime and went to jail for four-plus years.
But Jackson's film, taken from Frances Walsh's complex screenplay, was inspired by entries in one of the girl's diaries and skirts the luridness of the event.

 Bad Girls
Except for the gender twist, Bad Girls is basically just a Western in the old-fashioned style, circa 1955 - with clean wounds to the shoulder, freshly-painted buildings, and meticulously neat streets.
The film does have some downright silly elements even by the undemanding standards of 1950's Westerns (the four women always look fabulous, even after a whipping), but the film tries to take itself seriously in general, just not to the point of gritty realism.
Films rated below five are generally awful even if you like that kind of film - this score is roughly equivalent to one and a half stars from the critics or a D on our scale.
