Badge man - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Badge Man" is the title given to a photographic image that some President John F. Kennedy assassination researchers claim is a grassy knoll assassin seen within a Polaroid photograph that close witness Mary Moorman captured on November 22, 1963 within Dealey Plaza in Dallas Texas.
He labeled this image "Badge Man" because the objecte when magnified and brightness and contrast enhanced, supposedly shows what may be a dark uniformed policeman wearing his police patrolman’s metal badge on his chest, displays his left shoulder crest curved police patrolman patch, his hatless short hair, and the majority of his Caucasian face.
To the anatomical right of the supposed "Badge Man" some researchers claim there is also seen a second person, self-proclaimed witness Gordon Arnold, who claimed in 1978 that he was filming the motorcade while wearing his US Army uniform when a shot passed close to his left ear.

"Badge Man" (2): Oliver Stone's JFK: The JFK 100: JFK assassination investigation: Jim Garrison New Orleans ...
Oliver Stone's JFK places a man in a police uniform behind the picket fence on the grassy knoll, firing the shot that kills John F. Kennedy.
First, a shooter in the "Badge Man" position would have been standing only a few yards to the right of Abraham Zapruder (the bystander who obtained the famous home movie of the assassination) and his receptionist, Marilyn Sitzman, who were perched on a pedestal several feet above the ground.
Note that, in sharp contrast to Oliver Stone's claim that the shot rocketed JFK "back and to the left," the trajectory from the "Badge Man" position would be nearly perpendicular to the direction the President was facing (turned 25 degrees to his left).

Gordon Arnold claims to have been on the Grassy Knoll during the JFK assassination - II
The image seemed to depict the head and shoulders of a man behind the stockade fence, in a stance possibly consistent with the firing of a rifle, his face partly obscured by a white image that could be interpreted as a muzzle flash or smoke from a rifle.
While this theorized man did not appear to be wearing a hat or cap, what was said to be his chest and arm seemed to contain images reminiscent of a badge and insignia, not unlike those worn by a police officer.
that “Badge Man” and friend would have to have been elevated several feet above the ground (for example, standing on the bumper of a car) in order for their chests to be seen over the five-foot-high fence from Moorman’s vantage point, as Mack and White believed.

SECRETS OF A HOMICIDE: BADGE MAN
The general consensus of the various teams was that the photograph was not sharp enough to definitively resolve the question of whether the Badge Man figure was in fact a human being.
For these reasons, I concluded that the Badge Man figure was not a human being, but a misinterpretation of background and foreground elements that make up the original photograph.
In a two-page written report submitted to Nigel TURNER in 1988, CRAWLEY concluded that if in fact the Badge Man figure were a human being of average height and build he was standing 12 to 18 feet behind the fence line and elevated 3 to 4 feet off the ground.
