		The Hindu population of Badin district fall roughly into three main classes the advanced trading and commercial classes, of whom the Lohana constitute the most important element; the intermediate Hindus where the main element consists of Kolis with a slightly higher standard than the Mahadev kolis who were classed among the primitives.
		In fact, the cultivator and the herdsman of this district is most conservative in the matter of dress and the great changes which the last fifty years have seen in all directions throughout the country have very little effect upon the clothing of the agricultural classes, whether zamindar or hari.
		The district being a sugarcane and oil and gas producing state, therefore a good number of people are engaged in mills and oil and gas fields in the district.

	Malaria invades Badin district -DAWN - National; November 27, 2001
		BADIN, Nov 26: Cerebral malaria is on the rise in Badin district where many people belonging to various villages are suffering from the disease.
		Inquiries at the health institutions in the district revealed a sharp rise in the patients of cerebral malaria, which has proven to be highly fatal if not diagnosed and treated at an early stage.
		It is also feared that a large number of patients suffering from the disease might by dying unreported due to the absence of adequate and timely treatment.

	Badin News
		The Badin Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) recently requested the Stanly County Board of Commissioners consider setting a property tax on Town of Badin residents in order to fund the department’s operations.
		Before the town can be annexed into the new service district, the Badin Town Council had to agree to the move, which it did by resolution last month.
		The Badin Planning Board recently recommended to the Badin Town Council new regulations to govern the construction of awning and canopies.

		Speaking at a press conference, PFF chief Syed Mohammad Ali Shah, Saeed Baloch, Adam Malik and others, on Tuesday demanded that the lakes, ponds and coastal areas of Badin district be got vacated by the Thar Rangers' to end exploitation of the fishermen at the hands of law enforcers.
		Giving the background of the issue, they said that in early 1980s, the Rangers had made a request to the government for allowing their jawans, posted in Badin for law and order duties, to catch fish for their consumption, which was granted.
		The leaders said that the Rangers began to occupy lakes and ponds in Badin district one by one, and at present they had fully occupied over a dozen big coastal lakes, a large number of small ponds, besides private land that had been converted into saline ponds after the 1999 cyclone in the areas.

		BADIN, Sept 6: Pandemonium marred a meeting of the district council here on Monday when a member, Mohammad Essa Mallah advocate, tabled a resolution against the attitude of district police officer Dr Amir Ahmed Shaikh.

	WHO ghee bottles for pregnant Pakistani women found containing water!
		A surprise raid was reportedly carried out by a WHO team at the health centre of village Yousuf Soomro in Jamshoro area, and it was found that as many as 700 ghee bottles contained water.
		Hundreds of bottles containing ghee valued at Rs 11 lakh had been provided to the health centres for pregnant women of the Badin district.
		Meanwhile, Executive District Officer (EDO) Health Mohammad Nawaz Abbasi confirmed claimed that the ghee bottles had not been changed by their staff, "but was done by the transporters".
