	Bagad - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
		bagad is a Breton band, composed of bagpipes (Breton: biniou), bombardes and percussion (made up of snare, tenor and bass drums).
		A bagad plays mainly Breton music, but a bagad's music is evolutionary (new forms and musical ideas are experimented with at each annual national competition).
		The plural for bagad is unusual in that many are referred to as bagadoù but for two, three or any other specified number they are simply referred to as bagad (following the rules of Breton grammar).

		The bagad was founded in August 1952 and officialized on 11 September 1956 by a Decree of the Minister of National Defense.
		The first informal bagad was constituted in 1947 in the 71st Infantry Regiment, stationed in Dinan (Ille-et-Vilaine), when several pipers met during their compulsory service.
		Bagad Kemper and its three successive penn soner, Hervé Le Meur, Erwan Ropars and Jean-Louis Hénaff have enlarged the Breton repertoire by creating pieces based for instance on Bulgarian and Greek dances, as well as an adaptation of Changes by the defunct rock band Yes.
