Bagshot Park, 11 miles south of Windsor, is on Bagshot Heath, a 50 square mile tract of formerly open land in Surrey and Berkshire.
Bagshot Park was subsequently used by Prince William Frederick, Duke of Gloucester, nephew of King George III.
The Duke of Connaught died at Bagshot Park in 1942.

Brantridge Park, Balcombe, West Sussex, is one of the lesser royal residences.
Standing in Brantridge Forest, it was the seat of the 1st Earl of Athlone, and his wife, Princess Alice of Albany, the last surviving granddaughter of Queen Victoria.
Princess Beatrice, youngest daughter of Queen Victoria, also lived in Brantridge Park from 1919 to 1941.

Bagshot Park again became a Royal residence in the latter part of the 19th century when in 1875 Queen Victoria had a new house built on the estate for her third son, Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught upon his marriage.
Daniel wrote to reminds us that Bagshot Park was already a royal residence prior to the Duke of Connaught's habitation.
I have no first hand knowledge of Bagshot Park's interior but there can be no doubt that the rooms will have had ornate plaster decorations on the ceiling - this was the style of the time.

The Prince was at pains to emphasise that his plans for Bagshot Park were wholly dependent on the council's decision on planning consent.

The whole area of more-or-less open country extends from Sandhurst across to the Bagshot Park estate and to the untutored eye it would be hard to discern just what is actually what.
There has not been anything like that in Bagshot Park for the past 30 years, but looking through a history published in 1990 by the Bagshot Society it is clear that in the late1800's an annual show was held, though at least prior to 1880, presumably not in Bagshot Park.
The Duke of Connaught lived in Bagshot Park, indeed the present building was built for him by Queen Victoria.

I know where John was in 1871 (Heading Park, Easthampstead) and 1881 The Royal Ascot Hotel, Sunninghill, and then in the early 1900s he was Butler to Lord Onslow at Clandon Park, so if I could just work out which is the correct Cedars the picture would be complete.
She was born in Bagshot in the 1820s and married a JAMES PUDDLE from Sunninghill.
