Two Wings of a Bird: A Statement on the Equality of Men and Women | Bahai Faith | Baha'i Faith
It promotes destructive attitudes and habits in men and women that pass from the family to the work place, to political life, and, ultimately, to international relations.
The Bahá'í Writings state that to proclaim equality is not to deny that differences in function between women and men exist but rather to affirm the complementary roles men and women fulfill in the home and society at large.
Stating that the acquisition of knowledge serves as "a ladder for [human] ascent, "Bahá'u'lláh prescribes identical education for women and men but stipulates that, when resources are limited, first priority should be given to the education of women and girls.

 Equality of Women and Men
The establishment of equal rights and privileges for women and men, Bahá'u'lláh says, is a precondition for the attainment of a wider unity that will ensure the well-being and security of all peoples.
Asserting that women and men share similar "station and rank" and "are equally the recipients of powers and endowments from God, "the Bahá'í teachings offer a model of equality based on the concept of partnership.
It is essential that men engage in a careful, deliberate examination of attitudes, feelings, and behavior deeply rooted in cultural habit, that block the equal participation of women and stifle the growth of men.

 UHJ letter: white.men.html
For one thing, it is illogical that white men should be seen to be more concerned about this matter than white women, or indeed any other segment of the United States Bahá'í community; yet such an impression can be given by this designation.
The program of the Black Men's Gatherings is unique and exemplary as an avenue for transcending the legacy of anguish, frustration and social pathology that is peculiar to fl men in the United states; it urges them towards a fullness of life within the spirit and principles of the Bahá'í Revelation.
The use of the term "white Bahá'í men" to designate a program of activities in the community could be provocative and confusing in view of the current tensions that characterize the multicultural environment in the United States.
