Pahela Baishakh is indeed a momentous occasion in the life of each and every Bengalee.
Baishakh from the star known as Bishakh, 2) Jiashthya from Jaishtha, 3) Ashara from Shar.
The system of celebrating Nababarsha or Pahela Baishakh (Ist of Baishak) was also introduced by Akbar the Great." after introducing Tarikh-e-Elahi, he abolished the hitherto practised Muslim festivals and replaced them by 14 new Festivals, one of which was Nawroze or the celebration of the New Year’s Day.

New Age Pahela Baishakh special | CELEBRATION
Baishakh for me is a reassertion of the self, the purely Bengali self, that resides in me, in other Bengalis across this land and around the world.
Pahela Baishakh should be used to bring urban city dwellers who virtually live slum-like existences, nowadays, to emerge out of their isolated, hostile, individualistic, profit-seeking attitude and step out to share, bond, cultivate a collective dream, etc. Essentially, I see this as framing a certain kind of attitude.
The celebration of Pahela Baishakh as an event ushering the Bengali New Year is, therefore, fundamentally a transposed idea: an urban ‘re-imagining of popular memory’ of sorts.

Bengali peasants also used Baishakh as the month to start their next cultivation and fields were generally ploughed during the period mid-April to mid-May. This coincided with the arrival of rain after the relatively dry months of December to the end of March.
Pahela Baishakh in my imagination is the magic of different kinds of 'bhartas', 'bhajis', several kinds of 'dal' and 'shobjis', yogurt and sweets.
There are no political overtones in the celebration of Baishakh except in the minds of some sick individuals, who because of their twisted understanding of religion, frown on the gaiety and spirit associated with this date.

Pahela Baishakh has its origin rooted deep in the culture and traditions of Bangladesh and seen as a cultural and traditional expression of its people.
Essentially an indigenous occasion, the history of the day traces back centuries ago to the rule of the imperial Mughals who once held sway over the eastern part of the sub-continent, including its richest part of Bengal.
Therefore, the first of "Baishakh" came to be recognised as a sort of official start of activities or opening of accounts of the year and gradually acquired all the cultural vestiges of the traditional New Year.
