Baker is a small, shallow, entry point lake on the Temperance River (so called because of all of the many rivers which empty into Lake Superior along the North Shore, it is the only one without a bar at its mouth).
Baker is a small lake only partially within the BWCAW and has no established wilderness campsites.
Baker is the primary entry point for the Temperance River route, running up from the Baker Lake entry through Peterson, Kelly, Jack, and Weird into South and North Temperance.

The bear apparently got into campers' coolers and used his claws and teeth to puncture the cans.
"He drank the Rainier and wouldn't drink the Busch beer," said Lisa Broxson, bookkeeper at the campground and cabins resort east of Mount Baker.
